Present & Future Value Calculator
How to Use the Present & Future Value Calculator
The Present and Future Value Calculator is a simple financial tool that helps you estimate either the present value (PV), future value (FV), interest rate, or investment duration depending on what information you already have. To use it effectively:
- Enter Known Values
- Fill in the fields you already know:
- Present Value (PV): the amount you invest today.
- Future Value (FV): the amount you want to achieve in the future.
- Annual Interest Rate (%): the expected yearly return.
- Number of Years (n): the investment duration.
- Leave One Field Blank (set to 0)
- The calculator is designed to compute whichever field is left as 0.
- Example:
- If you want to know how much to invest today to reach a future goal, set PV = 0 and enter FV, interest rate, and years.
- If you want to know the future value of today’s investment, set FV = 0 and enter PV, interest rate, and years.
- If you want to estimate the required interest rate, set Rate = 0 and enter PV, FV, and years.
- If you want to know how long it will take, set Years = 0 and enter PV, FV, and interest rate.
- Click Calculate
- The calculator will instantly display the missing value based on standard compound interest formulas.
